Paradise Resort, Taveuni, Fiji April 17 - 27 2027

April

Outstanding diving and snorkelling in the northern islands of Fiji:

Manta Rays, Barracuda schools, Moray Eels and Gropers; Napoleon Wrasse; Sharks, Spanish Mackerel and Tuna; all with a backdrop of some of the most colourful soft coral diving on the planet.”

We have dived some very impressive sites in Fiji.   And they are all different. For me it started with diving The Coral Coast from Naviti on our honeymoon!  Since then, I’ve dived Kadavu; Nagigia; Wananavu; Naigani; Beqa and Volivoli, most of them a few times.  But we have never ventured to the northern islands, north of The Koro Sea.  Here lies some famous dive territory.  Located in the heart of Taveuni, known as “The Soft Coral Capital of the World,” Paradise Taveuni offers front-row access to some of Fiji’s most spectacular diving. This boutique resort features 16 spacious and stylish accommodation options, including Deluxe Oceanfront Bures, Oceanfront Vales, and Family Vales—all with stunning ocean views. Each bure includes air-conditioning, a generous king-size bed, a private tropicaloutdoor shower, and a large deck to relax and soak in the island serenity.

Diving is at the core of the Paradise experience. The resort’s expert dive team offers daily boat trips to the world-famous Rainbow Reef, just a short 20–30 minute ride from the re-sort. Stretching 32 kilometres through the Somosomo Strait, Rainbow Reef is one of the South Pacific’s premier dive sites, renowned for its vibrant soft corals and abundant marine life.

For added value, Paradise Taveuni offers unlimited free shore diving on its house reef. Divers can expect to encounter a dazzling array of marine species, including anemonefish, lionfish, reef sharks, rays, turtles, moray eels, ghost pipefish, octopus, blue ribbon eels, and more. The reef offers a diverse range of dive experiences, from deep wall drop-offs to gentle drift dives, making it ideal for all skill levels—from beginners to seasoned dive pros.

With warm Fijian hospitality, breathtaking natural surroundings, and direct access to some of the world’s most colorful reefs, Paradise Taveuni is a dream destination for divers and snorkelers seeking beauty, adventure, and relaxation beneath the waves.

Taveuni is located in the northern group. Dive sites are in the Somosomo Strait where nutrient rich currents flow from The Bligh Water.

Paradise Taveuni Dive Sites:

For your convenience, Paradise Taveuni has classified their dive sites into levels of experience: Level 1 for beginner diver (Maximum depth 18 meters, gentle with no current), Level 2 for intermediate diver (depths range from 20-25 meters, some current, some surface waves at times) and Level 3 for advanced diver (depths up to 30 meters, expect current and exposed surface conditions at times). Here are a few of their favorite sites:

  • Orgasm (Vuna Reef) Level 2 - Vuna Reef at its finest! This wall dive faces Open Ocean and it is here that we have seen some of our favorite regulars: Sharks, Rays and Napoleon Wrasse. As well as drift by schools of Spanish Mackerel or Giant Tuna from the deep. All of this in only 60f /18m, a truly awe-inspiring dive site that never seems to disappoint us.

  • The Great White Wall (Rainbow Reef) Level 3 - The soft coral capital of the worlds signature dive offers an astounding wall of pure white soft coral. This site is definitely the world famous Rainbow Reefs top draw. A coral encrusted swim through leads onto the wall from the reef top. A dazzling myriad of color and life inhabits the reef top. Manta rays glide past with ethereal grace. On exiting the water from this site an awed silence lasts awhile before an excited chatter that lasts for days starts among divers. Not to be missed!

  • The Zoo (Rainbow Reef) Level 3 - An extreme marine experience! Schools of Barracuda are common here, swimming above the White Tip reef sharks resting on the sand. Moray Eels, Groupers and small reef fish are plentiful and lucky divers will glimpse the graceful bronze whaler sharks patrolling the deep blue waters.
